Hey there folks! It’s been FOREVER since I posted anything here and I’m so happy to be back! Truthfully, though I had no intention of taking time off from blogging, the break was much needed! Life has been crazy busy lately and with so much on my plate, something had to give. That being said, I really do love having this creative outlet and a place where I can look back on seasons of my life and see what we were doing at that time, so I will be making every effort to carve out time to be here every week. I figure the best way to jump back in is with an all around update on what’s been going on in our lives over the past few months so here goes!
What we’ve been up to:
We are doing homeschool for Lincoln’s preschool and loving it. It really only takes about 45 minutes to an hour a day, 5 days a week. He knows most of his letters by sight, can write his name, and has really taken to all forms of artistic expression. As far as other enrichment activities go, we still go to music class once a week and we all love it so much! Marley has been going with us since she was less than 3 months old so she’s super comfortable there and they both learn a ton and come home singing all the songs and practicing rhythmic patterns all day long! We also joined our local MOMS club which gets us out of the house at least twice a week for play dates and other fun activities. The kids and I have all been making new friends and it feels so good to have a community of people living through similar life stages as us right now. Lastly, I have been working hard at building my Young Living business and have been having a ton of fun doing it! It doesn’t leave a whole lot of free time in my days and I am having to get up at 5 AM to get a workout and some me time in, but it’s worth it! Josh is super busy as well, heading into planting season and still as passionate about what he does as ever.
What I’m loving:
My JumpSport rebounder! I have been doing 20-30 minute workouts on there 5-6 days a week (I just searched YouTube and have found some favorites) and have really been enjoying working up a sweat and feeling my leg muscles strengthen! Bonus: it’s so good for your lymphatic system and supporting your body’s natural detoxification process. I am also REALLY loving my afternoon mocktail, NingXia Red and sparkling water. It’s so refreshing and hydrating, perfectly energizing, very healthy and super tasty!
What I’m reading:
I don’t have a lot of time to read right now so I don’t have any fun fiction to share but I have been squeezing in a few hours a week to read some parenting books and have definitely been enlightened. I just finished Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys and it was super eye opening in terms of how differently the male brain works and what a boy needs to be able to fully come into his own. Let’s just say that our modern society does not prize many inherently male traits and our public school system especially is not structured with young boys in mind. I am more committed than ever to homeschool and have a whole different view as to how to approach Lincoln’s education and how to meet him where he is and guide him more appropriately on his path. I am also reading The Conscious Parent but am only a few chapters in so I’ll have to touch more on that later. Honestly, it’s a deep one and I could probably do an entire post just on what I learn from it but we’ll see.
What I’m watching:
I finished Outlander in February and Game of Thrones doesn’t start until April so I was left wondering what the heck I was gonna watch on the occasional nights where I decide to do that instead of working or reading. Then I remembered The Magicians on SyFy channel which is a show I had watched for two seasons (and read the books once years ago) so I was excited to find another 1.5 seasons for me to dive into. It’s kind of insane but I love it!
What we’re looking forward to:
All things SPRING! Warm weather, park dates, picnics, backyard camping, hikes, our trip to Seattle for Easter, all of it!
